Choose the college path, not the jobs form
via 8 runs two separate pipelines. College admission counselling is not the same as job placement. If your goal is an undergraduate or postgraduate seat in South India, open the college admission application only.
Using the jobs form for a college question delays screening, because the desk routes files by intent. You can always open a jobs file later if placement becomes the priority after a degree.
Create the account with an email both the student and at least one parent or guardian can open. Status updates, document requests, and call schedules land there. A shared inbox prevents “I never saw the message” gaps when travel or fee dates are tight.
What the application asks for
You will be asked for full name, home state among the eight Northeastern states, current city, phone, and a parent or guardian name and phone. Every serious file needs a family number. Counselling almost always touches money, travel, or hostel decisions that parents should hear in plain language.
Academic fields cover current education, preferred city or region in the South, field of interest (engineering, nursing, commerce, design, and so on), and a short statement of intent. Optional fields may include exam scores and a realistic annual budget range. Honest budgets produce better shortlists than optimistic ones that collapse at deposit time.
Keep soft copies of mark sheets, ID, photos, and entrance scorecards where relevant. After screening, your timeline lists exact documents. You do not need to upload everything on day one, but having files ready shortens the documents stage.
What happens after you submit
Sign in to your dashboard. You should see a submitted status and a timeline note that the desk will review the file. Screening usually begins within two working days. If something is incomplete, the desk asks for it on the timeline instead of guessing.
Counselling is where options become concrete: programmes that match marks and budget, fee language to read carefully, hostel or PG expectations, and whether a parent should join the next call. High-stakes routes such as medical counselling get earlier parent involvement.
via 8 does not promise a seat. Outcomes depend on scores, seats, college rules, and timing. What we provide is a realistic shortlist, document preparation, and a named person who stays on the file through counselling. When preferences change (city, course, budget), tell the desk while the file is open so the shortlist can be updated.
How families stay involved
Parents can fill the form with the student. Many families do. Use a shared email and keep the parent phone active for WhatsApp and calls.
Before any fee transfer to a college, ask for a parent briefing. That call covers deposits, refunds, and what is still uncertain. If language on fees is unclear, pause. via 8 would rather delay a payment than push a transfer into a foggy agreement.
